CYCLING & HIKING

Our guests are welcome to hire out bicycles and undertake a cycling or hiking tour of Mecklenburg’s beautiful Switzerland: thickly tree-lined avenues, like endless tunnels, lead from town to town. Mecklenburg’s Switzerland, that means hills and forests, lakes and rivers, as far as the eye can see.

The image of this landscape is characterised by its waters – and the sea eagle circles majestically over its territory. This land does not just offer unique nature, but a thousandfold diversity of beauty and variety.

The geographical centre of this landscape lies in the picturesque town of Teterow, which means “place of the wood grouse” according to its Slavic origins.

From there, the wide expanse of Lake Teterow, on which our Schloss Teschow Hotel lies as the starting point of your tour, glistens in the sunlight.

We hand out cycling and hiking trails at hotel reception.

The hire charge per bicycle and day is 6.00 EUR.

Basedow: Ancestral seat of the von Hahns, remains of a mediaeval castle, castle complex extended and rebuilt over centuries, unique village structure with administrative and farm buildings, 13th century village church with splendid fittings, gastronomy and products from the region in the “Alter Schafstall" (Old Sheep Shelter)
Basedow Höhe: observation tower with view over the Malchin valley
Alt Panstorf: church ruins, former glassworks

HIKING IN AND AROUND TETEROW

The town of Teterow has a well-marked and mapped network of hiking trails. Starting from the town centre, a large number of walking options present themselves according to the inclinations, interests and condition of the guests. Worthy destinations include the Appelhäger Forest nature reserve, the Sauerwerder peninsula with former NABU (nature conservation union) station or the storied Lake Hertha. Tours are put together individually according to the wishes of our guests. From Teschow, hiking tours are offered both in the neighbourhood and to Teterow or into the Hardtland.
